| The TVC is a pair of transformers that have 24 tappings to provide 24 different level of volume control. so the stepped volume switch has 48 wires to it and a lovely click action. TVCs overcome many of the limitations of normal volume controls (eg poor channel matching at low volumes and varying impedance) but are usually very expensive (eg Music First starting at £1600).
